Five Micro-Poems
A selection of five of my short poems.
Egg
My skull cracks open,
painfully, wet and gooey,
a condor emerges.
Paradox #1
Real life is based
on a true story.
Riddle #1
If black widow spiders
were given beautiful wings
would they become butterflies?
And They Said I Ain’t Romantic
You are the Pepto Bismol
that relieves my existential nausea.
Bali
Woman, I’ve already left
but you still believe I could never leave.
Just as on the dreamy isle of Bali the people
refuse to admit the revered but persecuted miniature tigers
that roared magic into their lush hills are gone forever.
“So What World am I Supposed to Live in?”
Taking her to school, out of the blue, my daughter says,
“You’re only happy because you live in your own world.”

“You’re only happy because you live in your own world.”
I love this as I can relate to it and it conjures up great imagery in my mind.
Marvo,
Yes, when you have kids you find out they are spontaneous beings.
Some fascinating thought here
Good stuff!
Answer to ridde#1 no it would probably be called a Malania
Thanks Guaj. The point of the spider poem is that no matter whatever riches or other gifts we are given we have a hard time escaping our true natures.
I love these ‘micro poems’, the art is in saying much with little – Bravo!

Thanks Dougie.
CW, 5? I read 6 – bet you just threw in the extra one as you knew the readers would want more.
Ha-ha, yes Bhi i threw one more in for a bonus. Appreciate your comment.
Marvelous micro-poems! I remember there was a time when I used to write micro poems and would post them as five small poems, three micro poems, I never ever dared to call them haiku or senryu, but they would depict something about life. I loved all the poems. This should have been nibbed. I think you could have worked a little on the length and meter of the micro poem, Bali. Keep writing.
Thanks so much for the high praise Supratik. I agree the Bali poem is a work in progress.
