fillers

here are two pomes I may put into me 4th book should I survive and they make it through poem boot–camp. I don’t like acres of white page so fillers it is.

‘JUST ONE CARD’

one card on my mantelpiece
signified a birthday… I forgot

the legend read, ‘You’re Ace’.
she signed it ‘LOVE’. three kisses. smiley.

did she grab it off some shelf,
or did she choose it carefully?

‘WISHING AND HOPING’

it’s the longing that keeps us going
the glow of the inner light
shining from our eyes
that cannot be quenched
nor satisfied

it’s the hoping that keeps us going
treading over battlefield fallen –
homespun dreams and expectations –
move on – let’s take another step
it will come right
and if not
at least we tried.
