THEY WALKED THROUGH A STORM

Intro: TRIBUTE

They fought with great dignity, against dirty tricks
Grieving families and friends of the lost 96
Reviled by some media, right from the start
They bravely walked on, with hope in their hearts

The Hillsborough tragedy was blamed on the dead
Corrupted false evidence to the public was fed
The people of Liverpool never swallowed the lies
And walked through a storm, with their heads held high

For twenty seven years, fought for justice and truth
Never gave up the fight, that began in their youth
Through the wind and the rain, they have finally shown
No matter how much dreams are tossed and blown

Justice comes for the lost, light conquers the dark
Now they’re singing, the sweet silver song of the lark
The nation must bow, great respect must be shown
To those brave bereaved people, who will never walk alone

A poignant poem of that tragic day which moved us all. Your words spoke to me.
