The Boomerang Kid

An empty nest (but not for long).

She wanted her son
to have an education.
She was quite sure
that it would be best
for a future career
so to college he went.
But now he’s not here
she has to endure
the painful torment
of an empty nest.
But it won’t be forever;
he’ll be back soonest
and resume residence
which in time can become
a limitless permanence.
She’ll be unable to get rid
of the boomerang kid.
