moved as one
to piece together
one who negotiated
being alone alone,
being which seems
is nobody’s right,
not even our own.

I keep re-reading this Gerald and to be honest the reason I haven’t commented is that I don’t want to look stupid because I cant quite grasp the full concept. Its well written and trust me, it makes the reader think but I think maybe its just beyond my pay grade or it needs work ? If others get it and I’m being a numpty then please shout out. Keith
Thanks for having a go at this, Keith. The premise is that man’s condition is to be alone but we seek comfort from the company and love of others. We negotiate being alone together. For some people who are unable to obtain the comfort of others, the solution is to commit suicide, as they are unable to negotiate being alone alone. The end of the poem questions whether people have the right to take their own lives, if we think of the trouble the law goes to prevent it.
