Inspired by the question: why does Santa not visit the homeless or Refugees?  Only curious…

A cold, hard love,
the gift of charity.
Old World value
has new-age clarity.
Hear it rattle in the tin
busy giving at the shops,
empty as a saviour’s tomb.
harken as the penny drops.
Warm yet distant from the gift
frozen in the attitude,
some dark-skinned Magus
with middle income platitude.
Chilling commerce passes
As Yuletide cheer or brotherhood
The message lost on the masses
And Christ will hang on wood.
