Winter
Here there is no one,
Blank expanse consuming all around,
Only you can hear your heart run.
A naked light from the sun,
Beams as snow waltzes to the ground,
Here there is no one.
A robin flutters by after a day’s done,
The thick blanket absorbs the sound,
Only you can hear your heart run.
Colourless exile of beauty, stuns
as numbing cold in your fingers is found,
Here there is no one.
Red berries tease creatures for fun,
whilst a fox slinks by, having escaped the hounds
Only you can hear your heart run.
Grass peeks through all the snow and none
As rabbits footprints lead to powdered mounds
Here there is no one.
Branches heavy with snow stand crowned,
Any memory of civilization is drowned.
Here there is no one,
Only you can hear your heart run.
Very nice, I enjoyed the images you brought to mind, just a tiny point you have a few typo’s ‘Here’ when you mean ‘Hear’. Sue 🙂
Thank you I will make those amendments
An enjoyable read, just a line I wasn’t sure of…Grass peaks through all the snow and none. Not sure what that eluded too.
Mike
Thank you Mike, yes I’m sorry about that line it is meant to read, the grass ‘peeks’ through all the snow and none. I was trying to create the image of lots of tiny strands of grass peeking out above the snow, whilst the vast majority is still covered.
