Pastiche

A continuation of the art theme.

Walking into golden dawn,
under plane and poplar.
Fabian takes a pig to market;
bringing back an old kaleidoscope,
through which the world
looks more pleasant
than reality.

Somewhere beyond the tree-line,
Paris descends on the Creuse.
The magic of the chemin du fer,
all cool jazz and trenchant.
Laid over old provincial.

it’s what the tourist sees
outside the Google bubble.
Wine the colour of spent love,
warm red as old memories.
As Absinthe makes
such Art grow stronger

This I like! The play on words especially; is a coincidence, but is there Jack with his beans lurking somewhere out of sight? And Absinthe – I drank it…………once!

Hi Jim,
I loved the play on words at the end. Very clever. I never could drink Absinthe, maybe I should give it another go?

Oh no doubt about that! 😉

Excellent.
I’d like to know two things here; 1) why would it be ‘chemin du fer’ instead of ‘de’, and 2) why should the last stanza start with a minuscule.
Keep writing more.
