Two Trees
A short work; more a piece of whimsy; though I often find more can be said in less; Samuel Menashe being the master, to whom we can but aspire.
Main text of your writing.
Two Trees
(National tree planting week)
Our ages past seventy,
we bought two trees,
a Silver Birch for you,
a Mountain Ash for me.
We planted and watered
them – not too far apart,
that they might grow;
If not for us, then maybe
for our children’s posterity.

D, this is beautiful in its simplicity. As you say “more with less.”
Thanks Bhi, I feel I could still cut this down more; but maybe leave it it alone. I’ve got a few more short pieces – which I’ll post. I was under the impression that poems only went in on Fridays? But I see more new ones today.
