Jerene Entered
poem
The hospital vomiting blood.
I don’t breathe, until the doctor
Assures us she’ll be okay.
Then, faced with a two-week stay,
And me having to work,
My parents came to pick-up Swep 8,
Jeremy 5, take them back home
To Mississippi. As Mother
Packed Jeremy’s bear in the trunk,
Face down, big, gray eyes up,
Jeremy said, “No Maha,
Kirby is too little to be locked
In the dark all by himself.”

Oh, Bless! That statement by Jeremy got to my heart. Cleverly presented to make (us) me want to know more.
Allen
griffoner, thanks. this is a small poem and you’ve interacted with it well. Swep
Beyond painful…expertly portrayed in so few words…The unimaginable pain of a parent who understands.
