ἀποθανεῖν θέλω
A short pome reflecting my default state of mind
ah you laughing flittering wraiths
who grace my memory
with smiles and beckoning
and dance ahead
I see you
I long for you
but cannot catch
and dance with you
until that fateful joyful day
all burdens slip away.
I’m trying to condense a thought or an emotion – the fewer words the better – provided the mood/thought/emotion is sufficiently explicated.
slip yes like what I wondered in my poem Dad, the weight of ἀποθανεῖν you may need to use it, it’s not two separate words and the accentuation is this ~, not this ΅
funny but as I was saying to someone yesterday, a greek poetess you might want to read wrote speaking to Need that it has created everything but Love/Eros, it was death’s wild curiosity about Life that created Eros.
the poetess has died recently.
Kiki Dimoula is her name.
I got the spelling from a ‘Wasteland’ web page – I’ll give it another look – thanks 🙂 I’ll look for Kiki Dimoula too 🙂
ps – seems my initial spelling was wrong – I’ve amended according to the Wiki page on Petronius 🙂
Have ordered her ‘Bazen Plagiarist’ – thanks – she looks a proper poet 🙂
very proper a genius with thousands of fans here and elsewhere. her books were selling like a hotcake.
I see edits and one of them is something I backspaced and never suggested
the but line
much better already
Thanks – these things sit in my head and over time they pop up – one day they go quiet and I think ‘that’ll do’ (for now 🙂
The Dimoulas book is on its way 🙂
same here.
