Turning of the Tide
Tale of the sea
TURNING OF THE TIDE
She waits alone on the quayside
For her love to be by her side
For her anguish she cannot hide
Now is the turning of the tide
He went to sea forty days ago
She now waits for his ship to show
Was just a short trip he implied?
Now is the turning of the tide
The horizon is free and clear
She waits for the one she holds dear
She wrings her hands and her heart cried
Now is the turning of the tide
As a sail was sighted off land
Eyes turned to the sea she did stand
So his ship pulled along the quayside
Now is the turning of the tide
But her love was not to be found
For his soul lay deep in the sound
For her love she bitterly cried
Now is the turning of the tide
For now she walks off all alone
So now she heads back to their home
To bring her family up with pride
Now is the turning of the tide
Sad little ditty it happened all to often.
Pronto many thanks for reading and commenting – – Perhaps this is a little more than a ditty the form of this poem is a Kyrielle – – a refrain in each stanza and 8 syllables in each line.
But yes this type of thing did happen all so often so once again I thank you for your comment…Tony
