It’s Been A Good Day

poem

On the Walmart lot, a Hispanic

Family, stranded by their broken Buick

Several states away from home.

So I helped them with a fifty.

I had nothing else good to do with it.

                               *

When a turtle closed up his house

In the honking road, I quickly stopped–

Looking both ways, extracted him,

Ferried him across.  Our lucky

Day, we could have been squashed.
