Too Empty.
I lost the last of my four cats on monday, he was seventeen. Now its just my dog Harvey and I and too much emptiness.
The day wounds you awake,
to draw her shutters across
the light.
And oh for a voice
that’s not in your head.
Things..So many things
calling
yet fall unasked.
As you slip,
breath after breath
towards
the abyss.

Oh for a voice that’s not in your head, love this line, it resonates with me. The abyss is deep indeed.

Thank you Val, It’s very hard to lose a companion regardless of the form they take. Sue xx
Yes, Sue, animals can be a great comfort and it hurts to lose them too. I don’t have any pets myself, not now. Used to have a parrot but we lost him many years ago now. Best wishes to you.

I have never had a parrot, but I believe they can be very long lived. I have always had animals, from mice, rats, guinea pigs gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, cats and dogs, and I can only remember being down to just a dog once about 25 years ago, but that only lasted a few weeks, so I’m finding it very hard.
Thank you very much for your kind wishes Val, they are much appreciated. Sue xxx
Pain stitched in ever word, one of mine will not last the year. Great expression throughout Sue. I feel your loss.

So there is hope your cat will have far longer than expected. Thank you so much for your very kind comments, this house is becoming emptier and more lonely as time goes on, but I guess that’s how it goes. Good times pop up too so I will look forward… Read more »
