Lost Chord
When life deals us another cruel blow…
Dedicated to a soul sister in South Africa with love
And
also on being denied access to my grandchildren.
Lost-Cord-1
Birds still sing,
somewhere;
But just for now
their sounds are muted,
dead.
There are reasons
for our seasons…
And just because
those things are hidden
does not mean
they do not exist.
All that ever happens
is still winging its way
into the stars;
And,
if overtaken,
they can yet be experienced
and understood
by those
who go beyond.
‘Somewhere over the rainbow?’
Yes, there
they sing.

Such a beautiful voice
Yes, there is healing in that voice. The voice of an Earth angel now left to be over the rainbow himself. What a gift he left the world.

Simple words but beautifully expressed sentiment. Can certainly relate.
Lovely Alison.

Hi Val,
There is obviously still some teething problems because I responded to your comment first thing this morning and it was there all day but now vanished! 🙁
Thanks for your appreciation and I knew it would resonate with you.
I am working on having the music as an mp3 to go along, although the video is lovely too but don’t want to take up too much space.
I will have to ask Richard what went wrong with my reply.
Thanks again

Alison: “Somewhere over the rainbow.” a good set-up, but perhaps a last line that doesn’t wonder i.e.”it must”, but affirms, “Yes./It is there.” anyway, something to consider for the end of a well-paced poem. Swep
Hi Pops, Thanks for reading and commenting. I am dashing out but will work on it later. I start off by saying that birds must still be singing somewhere..metaphorically speaking. So the last line was meant to imply that perhaps they are in some celestial Shangri la in line with the wistullness of the song. I realise I have already affirmed that nothing that happends can cease to exist, so maybe I am contradicting myself? Maybe I am saying that we may only know the answers when we have progressed to that mythological place and am trying to reassure myself… Read more »
Have amended, see what you think. I found several potential endings so have not recited as yet. 🙂
Alison: i think that improves your poem but would suggest if other endings have occurred to you that you try them, one by one, and select the best. you are, and need to be, the ultimate arbiter. Swep
This is very pure. Perhaps it is the rainbow that sings the colours that fill us with joy. For its destiny is to be here when everything else has gone.
Hi Cooky,
Yes, the rainbow means a lot to many people. God’s covenant with the Earth. My beloved animals all across the Rainbow Bridge and here a sign and message that all is never lost.
