A Pastis Pastiche
My first work in a long time. It’s the product of good red wine and warm evening sunshine. You really had to be there!
Walking into golden night,
neath marbled plane and poplar.
Wine the colour of spent love
and warm as old memories.
Fabien took the pig to market,
bringing home an aged kaleidoscope
to view the world a shade
more livid than reality.
Somewhere behind the trees,
Paris descends on the Bourbonnaise.
The magic of the chemin de fer;
all cool jazz and trenchcoats,
laid over autrefois provincial.
Just what the tourist sees
out beyond the Google bubble.

Excellent final pun there, Jim. But is absinthe really conducive to the making of art?
I know from experience that it can produce a Jackson Pollock or two anyway…
HaHa! Yep, that’s a good one. Love the last bit. Wish I was sharing the wine mate .
P.S. If you’re in a really punny mood, you could always write a Cornish pastiche…
Heh! I agree with archiemac! in vino veritas!
