Woman and the World
A ditty about global greed, global warming and Gaia as seen from the Newsrooms when the ordure hits whats left of her air conditioning – see video below:
Weather Station Alpha Controller to staff:
“Put your hat on your hat-stand
And your head in the clouds
Put your war in your wardrobe
And pick out a shroud
Keep your eyes on the dial
‘cause we’re switching to overload
switching to overload
… it will never be over…”
Weatherman in the field:
“She’s more than just a grain of sand
Blowing on a Kalahari breeze
Just one flap of her butterfly wings
Will bring down the mountains and the trees!”
VIP Guest in the Studio:
“But what of Man? –
Who wants to own
The Woman and the World
The Woman and the World!”
Meteorological Expert in the Studio:
“Today’s the day
there’ll be hell to pay like when:”
Guest and Expert together:
“The whole world cried
When Joplin died
Leaving nothing behind her
But the empty road.”
Weather Station Alpha Controller on the phone link:
“Keep your eyes on the dial
‘cause we’re switching to overload…”
Weatherman in the field:
“She’s more than just a raging storm
Tearing through the Oklahoman skies
Just one flash of her lightning smile
Will bring down your city and your lies!”
VIP Guest in the Studio (desperate now):
“But what of Man? –
Who wants to hold
The Woman and the World
The Woman and the World!”
Meteorological Expert in the Studio:
“When McMurdo burns
He will never learn like when:”
Guest and Expert together:
“The whole world sighed
When Joplin died
Leaving nothing behind them
But the broken road.”
Weather Station Alpha Controller on the phone link:
“Keep your eyes on the dial
‘cause we’re switching to overload…”
Weatherman in the field with an F5 tornado in the background:
“She’s more than just a speck of ash
Floating on the Filipino seas
Just one turn of her Greenhouse Screw
And our polar oceans no longer freeze!”
VIP Guest in the Studio (with her head in her hands):
“But what of Man? –
Who wants to burn
The Woman and the World
The Woman and the World!”
Meteorological Expert in the Studio:
“He forgets to say
There’s a price to pay like when:”
Guest and Expert together (staring at the CCTV screens):
“The whole world denies
That music dies
Leaving nothing behind us
But the silent road.”
Weather Station Alpha Controller to an empty station –
his staff having fled all the approaching F5 tornados:
“Keep your eyes on the dial
‘cause we’re switching to overload
switching to overload
… it’ll never be over…”

I can appreciate the sentiments, Mitch, but not being a musical man I cannot make a sensible comment about the quality of the song. Is there an audio of the vocals and instruments? It would help one to assess the interpretation.
Best, Luigi
Thanks, Luigi – I was hoping to mix the track and add the audio but alas it will have to wait a week or so as my mixer went down. But it does make sense as a music track – I could not resist the comparison with janis Joplin and the town of Joplin in the USA which was wiped off the map by an F5. Thanks for persevering with me. Mitch
Audio now loaded – see what you think!
I think this is just superb.
Thanks Jay = see the above comments. As i said to Luigi, I was hoping to mix the track and add the audio but alas it will have to wait a week or so as my mixer went down. But it does make sense as a music track – I could not resist the comparison with janis Joplin and the town of Joplin in the USA which was wiped off the map by an F5. Plus the old butterfly wing flap setting off a chain of events to trigger a hurricane. Mitch
Hi Goth – I use different ‘voices’ in the track so it makes sense but also as an idea for an meteorological apocalypse recorded live in a TV weather channel.
“We’re switching to over-load” omg we sure are! In every possible way Mitch.
I really appreciated the unique layout and different voices. You are a very creative man and no mistake (as Sunks used to say )
Alison x
Thanks, Alison – one for Gaia – still haven’t got the track mixed yet! I miss old Sunks. Howlz. Mitch
