Two Mugs And A Smile.
A mug left sitting idle upon the table, crayons
no longer jostle by its side.
Its brother looks on from a bookshelf, forgotten
by the once cradling fingers.
I smile and hold close the sudden reassurance,
the normality caught within the simple collecting
of two forgotten mugs.

Fine atmospheric, snap-shot poem re. the personal connection of things, known only to one being part of their long-past history ; melancholic in its tenderness making it a feel-good read.
Thank you, It was a spur of the minute write which took me by surprise as I’ve struggled with writing anything for quite a while. Sue.
I like the softness in the poem. Well done.
