Blue etched by a rectangular roof’s
cut allowing the viewing of bare trees
that like roots spread across the dim sky
as if they were deeply embedded
in dirt.
A line perfect against winter winds
blowing onto ninety degreed roof peaks;
chimney outlines piercing as sharp
knives separating meat from blue bone,
gusting cold against the thrill of snow
not quit here yet.
Big sissors cut a trim line of
manufactured horizon across
the early morning pre-sun skyline,
telling the captured eye
and imagination that winterline
is too cold and requires a swift
shutting down of the cut-out view
with a firmly closed front door.
