The Beingness of the Meek
There are some
who can tell you
the difference
between
a Magnificat
and
a Te Deum
at twenty-five yards
they’re not so good
at one hundred yards
but it doesn’t matter
for they shall inherit the earth
anyway

I always look at your writing with interest, Gerald.
I suspect that you wrote this with tongue in cheek and I shall answer in kind.
As one who is a musical ignoramus and can’t tell the difference between a canticle and a hymn at five paces, I know that I shall inherit the earth but the way it is going it won’t be worth the legacy.
Cheers, Luigi
Well put, Luigi, about the state of things. I’ve just been listening to Berlioz’s Te Deum. The John Nelson recording (on YouTube) is probably the best., though I can’t tell. the merits of one interpretation over another. They didn’t teach me music at school. I thought better to write something than nothing at all, so this what emerged. You never know, it may have a deep meaning.
Regards, Gerald.
Pleased you liked it, Trevor.
Hello
Well, I know nothing about the technical side of music, or much else, really, but I found this to be a clever warning on the way the world is turning. I like it when I am as intrigued by a piece as I am puzzled.
blessings,
jolen
I knew my poem would eventually have a meaning and you, jolen, have given it one! Many thanks, Gerald.
