13 Songs About 7 Deadly Sins
Been absent for a few months but not idle! This is the title track of my new album due out at Christmas….
13 SONGS ABOUT 7 DEADLY SINS
—————————————
We lay beneath a ragged ash late one summer’s evening
In the drifting townships, the call to prayer begins
In the valley far below, the musicians at the inn
Were singing thirteen songs about all seven deadly sins
I could smell the apple wood burning on the fire
I could hear their warnings screaming down the wire:
Hold her closer; much closer!
Envy! they’re so envious of us!
Prideful? Don’t you be ridiculous!
Why must our love be the ultimate sin?
We lay beneath a ragged ash, lost in the moonlight
You can hear the dog-fox bark in the glamour of the headlights
Safe within our silence; shadows in the night
Witching hour has come and gone leaving magical delights
In the valley far below, they’re singing round the fire
We can hear our cadences echo in the choir
Hold her closer; much closer!
Slothful? This just isn’t laziness!
Anger: at their unjust craziness
Why must our love be the ultimate sin?
We lay beneath a ragged ash in the chorus of the dawn
Messengers of morning creep across their lawns
Mist is on the mountains: calm before the storm
All we have is our sweet love to keep us safe and warm
In the valley far below, musicians at the inn
Are singing 13 songs about seven deadly sins:
Hold her closer; much closer!
Hunger? I’m so hungry for your love!
Lustful? Hot blood, cool hand, velvet touch
Why must our love be the ultimate sin?
Why do they judge us so harshly? Are they human at all?
Hold her closer; much closer!
