OVER THE CHUCKLING HILLS

Reality:

    Several stethoscopic men

             In white, starched coats

             And quiet reasonous voices

Introduced that concept to me.

A growling,

A pissing,

A God-awful smelly beast:

             Fondly regarded;

            (Strongly leashed)!

They cooed it; they wooed it,

             To soothe it.

Not too soon I found the door…

They shouted!

                  I ran!

Over the chuckling hills,

Through the singing grasses,

Under the forest of

                          sloooowly

                                        chanting

                                                      trees…

All these criiiieed

At the cruel slashing of ravaging claws.

I put on more speed-

                           Closer,

                           Closer howled

Their whole slavering, mad-eyed pack

Of snarling, snapping realities!

Oh, lord how I ran!

But they, the faster ran me down;

                            Ravaged me!

                            Savaged me!

Tore me on the ground!

The claws! Oh, the raking claws!

                How do I tell it?

The teeth! The teeth!

                             Ripping my flesh;

                             Tearing my limbs;

                             At my throat they go!

Blood-lust,

Lust of  blood,

Lust of any blood is in their dripping jaws!

                             Ravening,

                             Ravaging,

                             Reckless,

                             Jealous they turn,

                             They turn,

They turn and tear each other!

My chance! I slip away…

Over the chuckling hills,

Through the singing grasses,

Under the forests of

                           sloooowly

                                       chanting

                                                     trees…
