souls

You, beloved,

once surfaced, then sunk,

who still wander the earth.

We never lost you, your songs,

now wind harmony and rain recitals

in the surging waves of days.

Your memories are woven in tree stems

and  petals,

hidden in stone

and underwater.

Your forgotten images

still float in the layers of shifting dimensions:

once full of life and still rising

within us,

as in distant, heartfelt landscapes,

that escape us forever.

You, who have endlessly built

worlds out of stardust,

are invisible, yet palpable

when we breathe,

or can be guessed in old mirrors

still dizzy from your presence

when they reflect our image.
