Love’s Demise

A Poem

You chilled me

to the bone.

Your heartless,

self indulgence

left me

beaten,

broken

and without faith.

The numbing

of my fragile heart,

bludgeoned

by your heavy tongue,

is now complete.

So here I lay

in this dry riverbed

called death,

looking up

at an empty, dull sky.

My naked torso

exposed

to the callous

winds of fate.

My soul

a deflated smudge

of tar coated sin.
