Etchings (Poetry Challenge)
You may have read this before.
From the top
Of the hill
I look down
And what
Do I see?
A wonderful,
Memorable
Town.
There’s the mill
And the square
With the school;
The church where,
In a moment
Of piety,
I uttered
A prayer.
The pool;
The station;
The park where,
Against
Parents’
Orders,
We played
After dark.
But all this
I don’t see
With my eyes,
Now I’m blind.
Those images
Are etched
In my mind.

This is more poignant than many of your poems and I like it. I would lay it out differently but that’s a personal point of view.
Thanks for indulging in this challenge. 🙂
Many thanks for your feedback, Elfstone. As you rightly say, the matter of layout is a personal choice. I believe that the one I have used reflects the poem’s rhythm.
