Tiny Links In The Chain.
Just thinking about the tiniest lives that live mostly unseen, but without them nature’s structure would crumble.
Trees stand tall,
devoid of all armour,
protection fallen to
the feet of winter’s
march.
Yet guarding still,
those who bind
themselves
about the naked
boughs.
The tiny lives:
insignificant beings,
that hold the world
upon their backs.

Given the useful role that these tiny creatures have, I don’t think that the the adjective ‘insignificant’ is appropriate, Sue.
I suggest that you find an alternative. Unnoticed, neglected or overlooked, perhaps?

I actually meant it ironically, which is why I added the last two lines. The creatures do such a hugely important job, but are rarely seen and so tiny people think of them as insignificant beings, when obviously they are not.
Thank you Luigi I appreciate your comment and if you think it needs changing I will have another look at it. Sue.
Dear Sue, I have already given my opinion in the previous comment, but it is your poem and if you are happy with it, fair enough.

Of course, and very much appreciated it was too, I have been giving it a lot of thought and settled on a couple of others, but due to family commitments yesterday I haven’t been able to get back to it yet. Sue.
