Justice (starting things off)

Eminent Member

Thank you to Richard and Andrea for keeping this place going and to Richard for his work with updating the site. I hope no one minds if I start things off? It feels odd to see blank topics and I hope we can all contribute something, even if it's older work.

Comments/critique welcome. I'm here to learn so thanks to anyone who takes the time to read. Thank you so much.

(Good to be back)

Justice is blind, she stands, scales in hand

weighing testimony in tarnished metal.

Unmoving, she hears the voice of

privilege, the tones of affluence.

The scent of expensive cologne,

rich leather and blameless misuse

pollutes intentions, debases honesty.

Justice is blind, she stands, scales in hand.

Speechless, she bears dumb witness

and cannot weep nor remonstrate.

Her blindfold hides the tears, the sorrow.

She hears the screams of outrage and pain.

Metal firms her, else would sink to her knees,

beg compassion, rend the concealment.

Justice is blind, she stands, scales in hand.

She does not see the ravaged spoils

of grievance and indifference. Disparity

is a god that reigns, that lights the morning sky

with false lights, neon fakery, empty promises.

Ever betrayed, always corrupted on the altar,

Justice was blind. Justice now is dead.

Good one, gee! (starting replies off). Need to come back on this one.

Is the old rest going to be kept? It'll be a bit cluttered.

Thank you for the reply. I don't think this is how Richard intends it to be. I think he's making changes when he has the time. I don't want the place to look neglected while that's going on though.

Your words express what many of us think. It is indeed a sad state of affairs where lies, deceit, and the unashamed exposure of 'teflon pants', are rewarded and applauded. 🙁  It is up to us... the prolétariat... to change that.  They never will. 🙁

*Gets off soapbox*

I enjoyed your poem, despite its message. 👍

Yes, just wondering, and hoping a 'clean slate' would mean a fresh start keeping all easy and neat. Looks good as progressing now. Sorry about this discussion on your work, just testing the poetry reply function was working.

I see on your profile page this poem has not appeared under your posted list. I wonder too, if Richard can link the submission here with the person's profile page, so that the member keeps a list there as well as here, otherwise submitted pieces will disappear quick as they roll in, and you'll lose track of them?

Oh I see submit is still there after logging in, is that where we publish poems on here (that aren't just discussion and the like) so that the piece ends up both in here and and in your profile page?
