Just wondered what you guys thought about the Tory leadership contest. Tory MPs get to select two candidates who are then going to be elected as this countries next Prime Minister by 160,000 Tory party members. Is this democracy, or should there be a general election when a sitting PM quits or is sacked by her party/parliament?

a general election of course. sorry I don't get it, you need to reform your constitution if such a thing is possible! when a sitting PM quits or is sacked, the party that is  government should be obliged to proclaim general elections.

I was feeling the same. It does seem odd that a political party can oust its leader who is also PM just so that one of them can have a grab at the job without an election. I think an election now would be devastating for the Conservatives. Unless they formed a coalition with Nigel Farage which could still happen and may even become Tory policy to try and do under Boris.

that's oligarchy. if they do or have done it in the past, I don't know your history, then your constitution that allows it is oligarchic
