Well done, Guaj. Monty it is. 👍 👍 👍 Over to you.
He has written many adventure books but is much more famous for his own adventurous achievements
Too easy but I'll leave it for someone else to identify. For the record he's from NZ.
@amman it's easy for you Tony because he is, as you say, from NZ. From that I assume that he is Neville Shute, but I could be wrong.
A fine writer but it isn’t Neville Shute
yes he was a Kiwi but the Queen gave him a knighthood and he was on to of the World 😉
Not many of us will be searching for this author
Luigi Pirandello 1884 ? Don't get the question. Am I missing something?
I should have explained: My browser has an extension that allows you to see an enlargement of an image when you place the cursor over the image. Your image has the guy's name and date clearly visable to me when I do that. So, I guess that is cheating and I rule myself expelled from this round. But Luigi, was there a second meaning to your clue??

@griffonner how very odd, you have found a glitch. I tried to hover the cursor on the other photos and it does not happen but on this particular one the name and date show, even in my browser. I'll have to investigate the cause. As for the clue, it is a reference to the title of his play "Six characters in search of an author"; usually the people (characters) following this game are fewer than six so 'not many of us. Thanks for alerting us.
I noticed this also I think it’s because they are stock photos like getty images for example
I think if you download onto your pc or smartphone and crop the image it won’t show the reference name or number
not totally sure about that I will do some experiments when I have time
Richard can probably help also
I think you could crop the name and date out, Luigi, as it appears at the top of the photo. Anyway, very subtle clue. Would not have got that one in a hundred years; much too clever for me.
Looks like you’re up for the next one, Luigi.
testing with cropped photo and Attach Files
it doesn't work name still shows
