Depends what you're putting it on. Tomato sauce is for chips, Colmans Mustard gives ham and beef a bit of ziiiiing but horseradish sauce is the King of Condiments. Mayonnaise isn't in the race as far as I'm concerned.

Andrea is a mustard fan, like me. She was totally in favour of mustard back then. Being a mustard fan is probably the most persistent human quality.

Some recently-discovered Shakespeare reveals his thoughts on the matter:

Some glory in their birth, some in their skill,

Some in their wealth, some in their body's force,

Some in knickers, some in socks

And others in their choice of sauce.

To add, or not to add?

That is the question,

There be little doubt that condiments,

Are good for the digestion.

Whether tis nobler in the mind,

To choose by higher reasoning,

Whether tomato sauce or mustard,

Should be the chosen seasoning.

Since brass nor stone nor earth, nor boundless sea,

But sad mortality o'er-sways their power,

And condemns those of lesser wit,

To put mustard on their cauliflower.

Full many a glorious morning I have seen,

Flatter the mountain-tops with sovereign eye,

Yet none of this can true compare,

With ketchup on a Shepherds Pie.

The choice is yours, but why smother good food until you cannot recognise it.

Do you really know what food taste likes without putting all that yuk on it...?
