How does one add a photo on the forums? I can't see an 'upload photo' button. Sorry if I'm being a bit fick.

Here's how I do it:

1.  Copy the image location: https:SlashSlashkimberlyloomis.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/tina-fey-0901-01.jpg

2.  Press the Source code button above this textbox.

3.  Paste the image location into the Source code box

4.  Press the OK button and voilà :

In the above example, https:SlashSlashkimberlyloomis.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/tina-fey-0901-01.jpg, the SlashSlash is a stand-in for the double forward slash which I had to use to prevent a picture from being posted instead of the actual file location line.  Your image file location will differ from mine depending on where the image you want to display is hosted.  One popular hosting site is photobucket.  It's free and pretty user friendly.  You simply upload your picture and copy the image file location line to this forum.

There's no special code or button to use when you want to add an image. Just copy and paste the URL of the image thus:

this url - http:// animal-dream.com/data_images/m ouse/mouse1.jpg (without spaces)

gives:

I remembered an old post dealing with the same question. Here is the answer:

Insert the link through Browse.

Post it

Open the image link.

Right click on it and copy image location.

Open the post in Edit

Paste in the link.

Post again, and the image will appear.

Thanks for your comments and all. I appreciate all the advice and suggestions. It's normally my own photos that I want to post and these are obviously located on my own laptop. I think Shywolf's suggestion is the best option for me: upload to photobucket and then copy the image to here from there.

By the way, Shywolf, someone said the photo you posted here was of Andrea. Is that correct?

Hi Mick. I thought that it was Trevor who asked the question about own photos and I remembered that the issue had been discussed before.
I tried the photobucket solution but the image did not come up; I'll have to try it again. I know it worked on the old Forum.

Phew... complicated auld cyberworld, Luigi. It was much simpler when we only had slide rules and logarithm tables.

This does not work but copying and pasting image fro Photobucket one should get a picture.

I've had a couple of goes with the same result, Luigi. Totally stumped again.

It may well be evidence of paranormal activity, of course... or maybe just my doolalliness.

@otreasaigh:  I gather that you had no problem uploading your image to photobucket, just the process of posting a link to it here in the forums so that your picture appears.  Read this:  LinkingImagesInPhotobucket To share your photo, copy the Direct link, do not copy Email and IM, HTML, HTML thumb, IMG, or IMG thumb links.  Then simply paste that line inside the forum text box.  Your picture should appear upon posting.
