I believe one now has to have an EORI number to sell books outside the UK (and presumably outside every other country). How can I get one. Please do not refer me to the website, because I cannot understand it at all, and have failed in all attempts to make sense of it.
This website https://www.independentpublishersguild.com/IPG/IPG/Resources/Brexit/Brexit-information.aspx may help.
@ionicus Thanks, but it doesn't really help. I want to know how to get an EORI number. The HMRC website is useless because it says that I must have a Government Gateway registry in order to request an EORI. I do not have a Government Gateway registration because I registered self-employed before the Internet existed. To register for a Government Gateway, they request my VAT number and EORI number. So that puts an end to that, as I don't have either I can get an EORI number by contacting HMRC by telephone, but it is a well-known fact that that is virtually impossible these days, and I have now given up trying!
If it is only for sales to the EEC, then no problem as very few went there anyway. Mostly they went to the US and Australia, but it is getting to be too much hassle, and at the age of 78, I am seriously thinking of giving up on printed books, as my digital downloads via Payhip have been very successful over the past few years.
