Following on from a forum thread I posted earlier, I thought it would be fun to run a competition to design a book cover for a fictitious book.

Sometimes, when I update the front page or create new pages on the site, I need an attention grabbing picture/image to accompany the text. I thought it would be a good idea to have some fictitious 'UKAuthors.com book jackets' as stock images to use if and when the need arises.

So, design a book jacket using this nifty website and post a link (or the resultant .png) in this thread.

Make the 'author' U.K.Authors

Use images that are free from copyright (open source).

If you post them here (in this thread) you are agreeing for UKA to use them freely on the website.

I'm off there now to design one.

(just a bit of fun, innit?)

Right then,

Here's one to start off:

Made with my own lillywhite hands!

Think it looks splendid 🙂

I had a look at the site but for me the instruction to 'design a cover' is too general. In my opinion the cover has to be designed with the contents of the book in mind. I could design a cover for War and Peace or for The House at Pooh Corner but the idea of just designing a cover doesn't compute, to boldly borrow a phrase from Mr Spock.

Did you miss the bit where I wrote 'just a bit of fun'? 😉

If it's good enough for Ms Rowling and Mr Tolkien, it's good enough for Mr Authors 😀

You could always (also) 'reboot' a famous book with a reinvented cover... (would that help, sirat?)
