Midsummer Prose Challenge deadline: 21st July 2019
Today thousands of people celebrated the solstice sunrise at Stonehenge.
Write a story in 200-2000 words which includes an ancient monument. It can be about anything so long as a monument is in it somewhere.
eg. Stonehenge, The Avebury ring, Brodgar, Skara Brae, Acropolis, Macchu Piccu, Karnak etc
I've not done this before so I suppose it has to be submitted under Prose Challenge? (Nikki help me!)
I am not sure. I removed my story because I want to work on it. With such little feedback here it's hard to know if it's any good, but I think it's worth looking at expanding it.
I guess you want to set another challenge? If you think it will encourage more writing on here, I will support that, but in my humble opinion feedback encourages people to continue posting work.
If you would like me to suggest something PM me. Maybe we could alternate between the two of us if there are no takers to set a challenge. Hmmm maybe put out a general request on shoutbox for ideas from uka members. For prose challenges I think a month is about right for folks to come up with a story/article.
Yes, Nikki my stuff is in temporary storage on here, but everything I do is filed in my computer and backed up on SD cards and I will probably put my more favourite ones in cloud when I've figured out how to do it, or if I buy an Apple one day. (I don't trust Microsoft cloud much).
Having no moderators is good if people are sensible and behave, but rarely they do and that means sites can (and very much do) descend into an abortion. I am pretty much apolitical so some of the opinions expressed here make my skin crawl. I only commented on Brexit on here once because it effects me personally in a negative way financially, otherwise I don't give a shit what the stupid Brits do.
Heh heh, yes Lottery wins, we can talk about that privately. So I guess it's agreed we alternate, my turn in September (my birthday month). Unless anybody else out there fancies doing it?
I like the challenge you just set, interesting. I have an idea already but I need to think it over before I commit.
