Reality 20-20

small new poem

how to describe
reality: it’s the hallway
of your home,
just before opening
the front door,
smelling of breakfast
you just had,
and if you’re lucky
it has a mirror
not depending
on your eyes.

IYP, this is a fine poem, but I was unsure of the “mirror not depending on your eyes.” I feel that you are alluding to the “reality” which is “the real reality” and not coloured by “your eyes”, but there has to be a colour, and I wonder if we do not know that colour how we’ll recognise it. Just me trying to make sense for myself.

I loved your:

“if you’re lucky
it has a mirror
not depending
on your eyes.”

It made me think that some mirrors are portals, and that some can be sensed rather than be ‘seen’ as such.

A really good poem, Nic. I love the opening five lines. A treat to read. Thanx 🙂
