The Rendezvous

a retitled and edited older poem.

God,

If you show me
a kite snagged on a wire
you’re going to make me
go that way,

Slowly, rolling a cigarette
with steady hands,
molding the tobacco
I would start walking.

Two or three meters
away from you,
you’d hear me say “Thanks,
now turn, we’ll be meeting again

in Gomorrah.”

I don’t know anything about the Bible except that the name Gomorrah usually goes hand in hand with Sodom and it implies a sinful behaviour. The message in this poem seems to be that someone is tempted to stray from what some regard as the rightful path.
An interesting postulation.
