Completeness

Lately, I have been asked to write a specific poem and there was a triptych challenge, the rest is history.

old flames on different paths

I.
Baby, the game’s ours,
– breathing in –
the warmth of bodies,
what has been felt
perhaps, above all,
– breathing out –
unbeaten and won,
third eyes open,
forever and now.

II.
I am, “what you need,”
you are, “what I think,”
sensing “each other.”
You speak, “I reply,”
I sleep, “I dream,
you wake,” you walk
“I wake, you sleep,”
day in “day out,” planes
departing, “complete.”

III.
Longing for ease,
the stillness of Zen,
moving as players,
in control. Hushed;
turned inwards.
A bridge half-finished,
on two clocks’ time.
Cores, tree-houses –
life is what we love.

‘Better to have loved and lost, than never have been loved at all,’ sprung to mind as I read your poem. Hope I was on the right track and not reading it wrong.

The first two stanzas had me thinking of two soul mates who understand each other.

Fine poem indeed.

Such an interesting read, lots of twists and turns just like relationships.
