My mother treated me and my son and daughter-in-law to an Indian meal. I love the richness and the diversity of being shown different foods.
I know that our food is usually inherited from what our ancestors had available and so in Scotland it tends to be very basic but good too.(tu)

We have so much to learn from one another, so much to share, just a pity that when things get out of balance (think inner city ghettos) that the goodwill recedes.

So the question for people who've made it all the way through the beginning and middle to the fable 'end' is this - how do/did you organise all the notes and ideas into a usable framework?

I've had a quick look at Scrivener for instance, but not in enough detail to punt £40 on it. Has anyone used it and is it worth it, or is there something else that works as well? I'm wary of just writing away because I suspect that it will just make everything harder work in the long run...

Just popped into say hello (8 replies)

Hello, from a stranger, well not really a stranger, but I haven't been back for a long while. I haven't done any writing since 2010. That's the problem sometimes when you have other hobbies and working full time. My main things are reading, writing and cross stitch. Since 2010 I've been cross stitching and created a blog, which meant I did a bit of writing, but not the fiction writing that I enjoy. If you're interested, I've put the address at the bottom.

Last Christmas, I was given a kindle which I just love, and it started me off reading again. In my reading to do list, I had a PDF of Engineering Paradise. David Gardiner kindly gave me a copy. I knew I would eventually get round to it and I sent it to my kindle and have just recently read it. David, I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like, and it pales into insignificance now, was the chapter titles, certainly at the beginning of the book. They were too simplistic, hope that's not rude to say that. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a damn good kindle read! I was out somewhere once and waiting and wondered if I had Engineering Paradise on my phone and did a search, and blow me it took me to Amazon, where I could buy the book! Congratulations! I suddenly felt really honoured to have had a book sent to me by a published author lol!

I really miss writing, and it is impossible to do everything, isn't it. I am half thinking that in 2013 I'll come back to it and when I do, I will be back here too.

Hope everyone is doing okay and still producing great stories. Thanks for listening to me ramble. And congratulations again, David.

ll the best
Kazz

[cross-stitching-kazzmoss.blogspot.co.uk]

The tribunal also heard two other Statutory Declarations of Iraqi citizen Ali Shalal and Rahul Ahmed, another British citizen.

After the guilty verdict reached by five senior judges was delivered, Mahathir Mohamad said: “Powerful countries are getting away with murder.”

War crimes expert and lawyer Francis Boyle, professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law in America, was part of the prosecution team.

After the case he said: “This is the first conviction of these people anywhere in the world.”

While the hearing is regarded by some as being purely symbolic, human rights activist Boyle said he was hopeful that Bush and Co could soon find themselves facing similar trials elsewhere in the world.

“We tried three times to get Bush in Canada but were thwarted by the Canadian Government, then we scared Bush out of going to Switzerland. The Spanish attempt failed because of the government there and the same happened in Germany.”

Oh, dear... (5 replies)

A couple of pleasant elderly Dutch guys came into the Tingwall Airport office on Saturday when I was chatting to the Customer Services girl, looking for a car they'd hired online (the hire companies usually deliver the cars there early in the day and leave the keys with us on a wall hook). They said it was a Kia but couldn't see it in the main car park. So I took a walk around the side and saw a silver Kia parked next to the fence. Next step - find the keys on the hook board. Only one set of keys had the Kia logo and unsurprisingly, they opened the car's door. The Dutchmen were very happy as they thought they'd been forgotten about, showed the girl a wad of vehicle documents in Dutch, which she obviously didn't understand, chatted to us for a while, asked if they had to return the vehicle with a full fuel tank and then loaded their kit up and set off for northern Shetland.
I'm back to work this morning after my two days off and catch up with the gossip. Ooh, apparently one of the Outer Isles regulars had flown in yesterday and discovered that her shared car had been stolen along with the keys she'd left in the office and that the police are well into an investigation and the insurance company notified. Strange, I thought, car theft is very rare in Shetland. Then I'm told that said vehicle was... a silver Kia.
Oh, *~%@
Lots of phone calls are made, none of the hire companies know anything about any Dutchmen or silver Kias being delivered to Tingwall or the main airport at Sumburgh. The police come out and take a statement from me (no blame attached) and try to get some clues as to where the Dutchmen have gone. Touring and painting is all I can tell them, other than their descriptions. It's a genuine mistake on their (and my) part but what I can't work out (after hearing this from someone familiar with said vehicle) is: why they didn't mention about the low fuel level, why the interior of it was grubby and why there was stuff like animal feed and Wellington boots etc in the boot. And where the %*@# is the real hire car?
These guys are going to get quite a surprise when the police eventually manage to find the car with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). They'll sure have a tale to tell when they get home. And I'm never going to live it down, going by today's screams of laughter. :(
