Washed Away.
Sometimes we just can’t catch our dreams.
Dreams tumble
and fall,
ripples in a river
dancing one upon
another,
moving ever
onward
and away.
Only to be lost,
devoured
beneath
ever restless
waves
as they leap
and break
on windswept
shores.
Yes, I can see that all happening. Swept along further and further away from you.
The windswept shores has such an air of resignation to it. The short lines of carefully chosen words works so well. I love water too. Fluid, holding memory and mysterious.

Thank you Luigi, I appreciate that very much 🙂 Sue.x
A good analogy, Sue.

Thank you Alison, I had been remembering how I wanted my life to be, because it’s nothing like the plans I had made, and I was wondering if there was a certain point that the wrong turn was taken and if I could still have attained the dream while still keeping what I hold precious but I don’t think that would have been possible. I was standing listening to a small brook rippling quietly onwards as I was doing all this thinking. 🙂 Sue x
This has such deep meaning, sweetwater. I feel quite moved by your words. Beautiful strong images. Really enjoyed.

Thank you very much Eira, that is such a wonderful comment 🙂 Sue
Lovely in its clear simplicity, yet deeply wistful in the double meaning derived from the use of ‘dreams’. Perhaps lose one ‘ever’ rather than repeat this word in such a short piece? But a gem, and skillfully evocative. bel
Thank you so much Belcanto you are very kind.
You won’t believe how many times I checked this poem as I try to not use the same word twice if I can avoid it, and I still didn’t notice the two ‘ever’s’ honestly I really annoy myself at times! Many thanks I will think of a suitable alternative for one of them. 🙂 Sue.
